The Senate Finance and Public Administration Legislation Committee report outlines key issues and its recommendation about the bill which was introduced into the Senate by the Minister for Indigenous Affairs, Senator the Hon Nigel Scullion, on 2 December 2015. The bill seeks to amend the Social Security Act 1991 (Social Security Act) and the Social Security (Administration) Act 1999 (Administration Act) to: strengthen incentives for job seekers in remote Australia to actively engage with their income support activity requirements and provide greater opportunities to participate and remain in paid work.
