17 November marked Teck Chi Wong’s last day as project officer of Austaxpolicy. We warmly acknowledge and celebrate Teck Chi’s extraordinary contributions to Austaxpolicy, TTPI, and the academy over more than eight years, and we extend our deepest gratitude and thanks for his exemplary service.
Teck Chi has been integral to the growth and success of Austaxpolicy. He assumed the key role of project officer in 2017, soon after Austaxpolicy’s establishment by Professor Miranda Stewart and Professor Mathias Sinning. Drawing on his journalistic skills, and his expertise on taxes and transfers, public policy, and economics, Teck Chi’s exceptional work has enabled Austaxpolicy to excel in its mission of publishing high-quality, rigorous and timely research on taxes and transfers for the public benefit.
As project officer, Teck Chi has implemented and guided every step in the publication process, and he has made the job of the academic editors very smooth and an absolute pleasure. Most of our articles comprise invited contributions—which have originated in Teck Chi’s thoughtful and meticulous literature searches to identify tax and transfer research of importance to policymakers and the academy. He took the lead in transforming academic articles into accessible and succinct contributions which could be readily understood by a wide audience. Our expert contributors, with whom Teck Chi worked closely, have experienced first-hand his talent, collegiality, and commitment to excellence. Our contributors often convey satisfaction about the beautiful visual presentation of our articles—this being entirely the product of Teck Chi’s creative acumen. Notably, Teck Chi has led and coordinated our annual Budget Forum—Austaxpolicy’s flagship event where we publish an array of expert analyses and insights on the Federal Budget.
Teck Chi has been instrumental in establishing Austaxpolicy as a sophisticated and compelling publisher of tax and transfer research with a very substantial readership in Australasia and abroad. Teck Chi will be greatly missed at TTPI. As he approaches the final stages of his doctoral thesis and embarks on a new chapter, we extend to Teck Chi our heartfelt wishes for success and happiness in the future.
