Against the backdrop of the COVID-19 crisis, governments around the world have committed a staggering $14 trillion in new spending to address the economic and social impacts of the pandemic. The International Budget Partnership’s Open Budget Survey team has led a rapid assessment of the transparency and accountability of emergency fiscal policy packages with partners in 120 countries. The International Budget Partnership will hold a virtual discussion on Monday, May 24 from 11pm to 12.30am (AEST) to share the findings and engage a global conversation on transparency, citizen engagement, and accountability of emergency spending.
