About the Topic

The welfare system provides a vital safety net for hundreds of thousands of disadvantaged Australian families. However, there are concerns about the adequacy of payments, welfare dependency and its possible transmission to the next generation, and the cost of the system going forward. The panellists will discuss these issues along with new policies and programs to promote self-sufficiency among families.
