The inaugural Treasury Research Institute Essay Competition is a national essay contest for Australian university students that aims to promote engagement with important economic policy issues.

The topic this year is: What do you believe will be most important for ensuring Australia’s future economic prosperity, and why?

Word limit of the essay (including references) is 2000 words. Entries will be closed at 5pm (AEST) on Friday 14 July 2017. A panel will determine a winning entry and two commendable entries in August 2017.

The winner will receive a prize of $2,500, with prizes of $1,000 each awarded to the two runners-up. In addition, the three winning entrants will have the opportunity to visit Treasury to meet with the Secretary as well as senior officials.
