The Department of Social Services has released a commissioned report by the Future of Employment and Skills research centre at the University of Adelaide, which evaluates the Australian Government’s Cashless Debit Card trials.

The report covers the first three Cashless Debit Card sites of Ceduna, East Kimberley and the Goldfields.

The evaluation involved:

  • a quantitative survey of Cashless Debit Card participants.
  • qualitative interviews with Cashless Debit Card participants and stakeholders across all three sites.
  • use of relevant Australian Government administrative data.
  • analysis of community-level data provided by state governments.
