Abstract submissions close: 8 May 2023

The 2023 Australian Social Policy Conference (ASPC) will be hosted by the Australian Social Policy Association and held at the Australian National University in Canberra from Monday 11 September to Wednesday 13 September 2023.

The conference will be an in-person event. The theme for ASPC 2023 is ‘Social Policy for Social Change’. The Conference will feature keynote addresses from leading international and Australian scholars and a plenary panel of experts by experience.

The ASPC organising committee is now calling for papers from researchers, PhD students and practitioners of social policy. Papers can report the results of research, discuss conceptual approaches to contemporary social policy, or raise issues for debate.

Papers may address, but are not limited to, the following topics:

  • Social inequality and social security
  • Diversity, inclusion, voice and advocacy
  • Families and children
  • Communities and human services
  • First Nations
  • Comparative social policy
  • Digital technologies and social policy
  • Disability and rights
  • Ageing
  • Housing and locational disadvantage
  • Climate change and social policy
  • Gambling harm
