On 6 March 2020, the Australian Government released its response to the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission legislation review.
The final report of the review, Strengthening for Purpose, was tabled in Parliament on 22 August 2018. The review, chaired by former Mission Australia and the Society of St Vincent de Paul chief executive officer Patrick McClure, was to inquire into, and make recommendations on appropriate reforms to ensure that the regulatory environment established by the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission legislation continues to remain contemporary and delivers on their policy objectives.
