The Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) is currently conducting a performance audit to assess whether the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has effective arrangements in place to support the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI).

The ANAO proposes to examine:

  • Does the ATO have effective governance arrangements supporting the adoption of AI?
  • Has the ATO established effective arrangements to support the implementation of AI models?
  • Is the ATO effectively monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the adoption of AI?
